Speaking

I don't speak Dutch. Can I work at Het Poetsbureau?

Yes, even if you do not speak Dutch, you can work with us. Our consultants will try to support you as much as possible in your native language or in French or English.

I don't speak Dutch. How can I talk to my clients?

Most clients can speak a little English and/or French. We also offer on-the-job coaching to make contact with your clients easier, and you can use a translation app on your phone. We also encourage clients to use some helpful apps to make it easier for you to communicate with each other.

What languages do your consultants speak?

Not every office employs a consultant who speaks your language. But don't worry: our consultants will always do their best to help you in your language or facilitate communication with visual aids. We always make every effort to help you in the best possible way.

Can I wear a head scarf as a housekeeper?

At Het Poetsbureau, we respect everyone's culture and religion. So you can wear a head scarf at work without any problems.

What tasks can I do?

As a housekeeper, you can clean, iron, run errands and prepare meals. Would you rather not do certain tasks? Be sure to say so during your job interview.

How many hours can I work?

You will work a minimum of 13 hours per week. Our possible working hours run between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. This way we make sure you get the rest you deserve in the evenings and weekends. Together, we'll see how best to match your hours with your schedule and personal life.

How much do I earn?

As a housekeeper, you earn between €13.10 and €13.91 per hour (gross). Exactly how much you earn depends on your experience. In addition to your salary, you also get meal vouchers, hospitalization insurance, a transport allowance and lots of great benefits.

I have family abroad. Can I take a long vacation to visit them?

Yes, you can take your vacation days off as you wish. For example, if you are entitled to 4 weeks of vacation, you may take them consecutively. If necessary and if it fits into your office's schedule, you can also take unpaid leave. However, always consult with your office before making plans.
